Smart Cards in Interaction: Towards Trustworthy Digital Signatures
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present approaches to raise the security level in the process of electronic signature creation by shifting as many tasks as possible involved in digitally signing data into a tamper-resistant and trustworthy smart card. We describe the fundamental technical principles our approach is based on, illustrate resulting design options, and compare the security of our approach with traditional electronic signature scenarios.

TruPoSign A trustworthy and mobile platform for electronic signatures
Today’s PCs and laptops with standard operating systems cannot be considered as secure signature platforms because they are at risk of manipulation when they are connected to public networks. Viruses and Trojan horses can be designed to cause damage in the signature environment. Furthermore, existing concepts do not sufficiently address signature creation in third party environments and working...
متن کاملDevice Security
This paper studies requirements for achieving personal trusted devices. Such devices can be for example smart cards or personal digital assistants. We consider both hardware and operating system security. Together they ensure that the device is trustworthy and is able to protect it’s user’s electronic identity (his private key) and data. We study some security problems with smart cards, and giv...
متن کاملSupplemental Biometric User Authentication for Digital-Signature Smart Cards
This paper specifies how biometric verification methods can be applied in addition to PIN verification on digital-signature smart cards in compliance with established smart-card standards. After successful PIN verification, multiple digital signatures can be created; each signature creation, however, is preceded by biometric verification.
